The National Flash Fiction Day anthology, Jawbreakers,

will include my own short-short story, "Mauve." I'm delighted, in part because of the great company--it will included commissioned stories by Ian Rankin and Ali Smith, as well as Bath Spa alum Tania Hershman and NFFD director Calum Kerr. A one of a kind prose poetry event in Bath

On Thursday, 29 March at 5 p.m. at the Michael Tippett Centre, Bath Spa University, we will be holding the Bath launch of This Line Is Not for Turning: An Anthology of Contemporary British Prose Poetry with readings from contributors Andy Brown, Carrie Etter, Eluned Rees and editor Jane Monson, followed by a Q&A. This is part of the first-year creative writing event series, but this time it's specially open to the public--and entirely free.

Sci-fi flash fiction--with monsters!

Some sci-fi/fantasy authors have written flash fictions in response to parts of a delightful painting--just click on different creatures in the picture to read them. Contributors include Neil Gaiman, Lev Grossman, Michael Moorcock, Scott Westerfeld, and many others. The project supports a unique SF/fantasy teen writing camp, Shared Worlds, at Wofford College in South Carolina. I wish I could go!
