Another kind of sudden prose, the short nonfiction essay

There are journals for prose poems and journals for short-short stories, and now there's one for short-short essays. Brevity is dedicated to nonfiction pieces of 750 words or fewer and features both established and emerging authors, and for those looking to hone their work, there's a section on craft with essays with much more precise advice than most of what can be found online.

Flash Fiction open reading in Frome, 19 June

On Friday, 19 June at 7:45 p.m. at the Merlin Theatre on Bath Road in Frome, 15 names will be drawn from a hat. Each reader will read a single short-short story up to 400 words in 4 minutes, and the best reading/story, as judged by a novelist, a journalist, and a publisher, will win £40. Tickets are £4.
